TRAVEL IN TIME TO NEW EXCITING PLACES BY READING HISTORICAL FICTION
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I live near Chicago with my husband. I enjoy history, reading, traveling, dancing, meditation, yoga, biking, and a good heated debate. I retired my career as a Family Therapist to write.
I published my first young adult fiction, WABLENICA: TALE OF A LAKOTAH ORPHAN in 2004. I wrote this novel to help troubled young adults heal. I wove my passion for orphans and the mystical ways of the Lakotah Indian into this book.
My craving for historical fiction, philosophy, and Italy inspired me to tell Lorenzo Medici's story in my debut adult novel THE UNCROWNED KING: A STORY OF LORENZO MEDICI. This work of historical fiction transports the reader to witness the life of Lorenzo Medici who lived from1449-1492. In a trip to Florence, I visited the old Medici palazzo and discovered he was a genuine Renaissance man. His passion for art, ancient texts, and philosophy drew me in. I identified with his struggle to be true to himself, despite his religious background. He treated the average citizens as his equal, and they treated him like their King. His life was full of significant turmoil and extraordinary friends. Lorenzo took root in my imagination for the rest of my Italian vacation, and became the hero for this novel. I stayed true to history in the timeline and with most of his friends and enemies. I did fictionalize his mistress.
